Ripley’s Believe It or Not! is one of the world’s best known brands, instantly identified with its unique collections of “curioddities:” remarkable natural and human-made facts, feats, and artifacts. For an international traveling exhibition, Science North teamed up with Ripley Entertainment to develop experiences that engage guests in the remarkable scientific underpinnings of some of Ripley’s most amazing stories and objects, and they commissioned Main Street to design the project. The Science of Ripley’s Believe It or Not! spans the full spectrum of Ripley’s “ weird world,” from the largest and tiniest creatures ever known to bizarre animal genetic mutations to life-sized sculptures crafted from millions of matchsticks to portraits of pop stars composed entirely of gumdrops. It offers a fantastic array of interactive experiences, including opportunities to crawl through a giant snake, watch yourself instantly age, trick your own senses with a series of perceptions and illusions, and even (safely, we promise) to try your hand at sword swallowing.
